Sandra Fernandes is the new sarpanch of the village panchayat of Carmona. In the elections held on Wednesday, Sandra was elected unopposed to the post after the Presiding Officer received her lone nomination paper. Elections for the post were necessitated following the ouster of then sarpanch Allwyn Jorge in a no-confidence motion last month.
