Goan classical singer Ramesh Sukhatankar passed away at the age of 79 after a brief illness. Sukhatankar, a disciple of noted vocalist Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, lived at Bhatle in Panaji. As a youth, Sukhatankar had left everything and went to Pt Abhishekibua to be his disciple. He remained with his Guru for many years to learn the nuance of classical singing. After completing his discourse, he came to Goa and took up a government job. His mastery of vocal music was beyond any doubt. He was being treated at Goa Medical College for his illness and died there.140 Diwali magazines exhibited at Valpoi library.
