PANAJI: Dr. M. R. Ramesh Kumar, retired chief scientist from the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), will deliver a talk titled “Scientists and Scientific Institutions of the Indian Subcontinent through Philately” on September 21 at 10 am at the Fomento Amphitheatre, Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao. The event, organised by the Marathi Vidnyan Parishad Goa Vibhag, will also feature a display of stamps, including Definitive, Commemorative, Miniature sheets, Special Covers, First Day Covers, and Special Cancellations.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar, former president of the Goa Philately and Numismatics Society (GPNS), has many academic and research achievements. He has previously organised philatelic exhibitions, including one on the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Diwas, where a commemorative cover was released in the presence of Indian Army personnel.
Passionate about sharing his knowledge, Dr. Ramesh Kumar regularly gives away stamps and philately material during his talks and workshops. He has received contributions from philatelic enthusiasts such as Samir Krishnakant Gandhi to distribute to philately lovers, especially students, at his events.
