Dr Gajesh Gopal Shenvi Usgaonkar has successfully defended his PhD at the age of 56 at GEC Goa Research Centre under Goa University, under the guidance of Dr Rajesh Prabhu Gaonkar. His research focused on the performance evaluation of cashew nut shell oil as an eco-friendly cutting fluid in machining operations. The study revealed that this locally available bio-oil can serve as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to synthetic cutting fluids used in manufacturing industries. Dr Usgaonkar’s academic journey is highly commendable. He holds one Indian patent, has published eight research papers, and has received three Best Research Paper Awards at various international conferences. His achievement stands as an inspiring example of lifelong learning, innovation, and dedication to sustainable engineering solutions.
