MARGAO: Varca Sports Club secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the St Sebastian Union Inter-Village Football Tournament with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over St. Sebastian UC at Dando Ground on Wednesday.
Varca took control of the match early on, with Jason Fernandes breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute. Jobern Cardozo doubled the lead before halftime, giving Varca a comfortable cushion.
St. Sebastian UC fought back bravely in the second half, and Keegan Fernandes pulled a goal back in the 32nd minute to ignite hopes of a comeback. However, Varca held firm defensively to secure the win and advance to the next round.
