MARGAO: Verna SC edged past Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda 2-1 and moved to the semi-finals of the 12th Our Lady of Fatima Cup, organised by Dicarpale SC, at Dicarpale ground, on Wednesday.
Paroda opened the scoreline through Shelton Fernandes in the 12th minute. Andrus John netted a brace in the 49th and 55th minutes respectively for Verna. It was a tense and tough match in which both the teams fought hard till the final whistle. The man-of-the-match was awarded to Verna SC's Lennon Pereira by Sao Jose de Areal ex player and football promoter Custodio Endro.
