The BJP-MGP internet battle took an unusual turn when the internet cable for the free Wi-Fi facility offered by the MGP was cut near the statue of Bhausaheb Bandodkar in Mandrem panchayat on Wednesday, barely two days after the service was inaugurated.

The incident has been condemned by MGP central committee member and Mandrem Panch Raghoba Gaude.

The MGP claimed that its leader Jeet Arolkar had first inaugurated a Wi-Fi service and had given the contract to a local, while Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte had inaugurated a similar facility in Parcem but gave the contract to a businessman based outside the taluka.

Gaude claimed that while Arolkar's Wi-Fi service provides internet 24/7, Sopte's Wi-Fi service is available for only two hours a day.
