‘ODP for Margao, Ponda to be kept open for suggestions’

MARGAO

The Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Margao and Ponda will be kept open for suggestions and objections from the public, even as the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has been told to complete the land use map exercise by January 26.

Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai has further disclosed plans to revive the City Development Plan (CDP) by taking the concept to the people of Margao, Fatorda and Ponda.

When the TCP Minister was posed a question at his Sunday Dialogue on the statue of the Outline Development Plan for Margao and Ponda, he said that the process of creating the new ODP for the two towns is presently underway. In fact, he said that the SGPDA had been told to complete the land-use mapping of the two towns by January 26 and place the exercise before the public for suggestions an objections. “This is perhaps the first time that land-use mapping exercise has been carried out by the SGPDA. Once this exercise is completed, it will be kept before the people of Margao and Ponda via internet kiosks. The draft ODP for the two cities will be then kept in public domain,” he said.

Interestingly, the TCP Minister disclosed plans to revive the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) for Margao, which was first proposed by former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.

“I have decided to revive the CDP for Margao so that a proper and holistic plan for the city is put in place. After the proposal is conceptualized, the planning authorities will come back to the people for suggestions and objections,” he said.
