Four persons from Assam have been arrested in connection with the murder of a youth at Dando beach in Velsao.
Police said Khagen Nath (25) of Assam had been murdered at Dando beach on Sunday sometime between 4 pm and 6 pm.
During the course of investigation, police suspected the involvement of four persons in the crime and details were shared with police stations across South Goa.
The Konkan Railway Police later nabbed three persons, Dulal Das (25), Ridip Das (22) and Manash Das (24), all from Assam, as they were in the process of fleeing from the State.
Police Inspector Sherif Jacques took custody of all three suspects, who allegedly confessed their involvement in the crime.
One of the accused, Manash Das, informed police that another person, Manash Nath (26), a native of Assam but residing at Birla, was also involved in the crime.
PI Jacques and a police team then went to Birla and detained Manash Nath, who later is alleged to have also confessed to the crime.
Police investigations revealed that the deceased and the four accused had gone to Dando beach for a party.
Sometime during the party, a fight broke out and the four accused allegedly assaulted the deceased with a glass bottle, stones and a wooden block, leading to his death.
In a bid to evade arrest, the three accused had planned to leave Goa by train.
All four persons have been arrested under Section 302 IPC and Verna police is investigating the case.
