Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday said that the ensuing monsoon session is expected to be around three weeks.
Addressing a press conference in the Assembly Complex, Tawadkar revealed that the proceedings of the House are likely to commence in the third or fourth week of the next month.
“The monsoon session is expected to be around 15-20 days, although the file has not come to me yet. The session will commence in the third or fourth week of July and continue till the second week of August,” he said.
He further announced the one-day visit of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to Goa on June 15, which is when he will address the Members of the State Legislative Assembly in the complex at Porvorim and participate in other programmes subsequently.
“He (Birla) will also call on the Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai at Raj Bhavan. He will then proceed to the Goa Legislative Assembly, where he will address the MLAs on the theme “Viksit Bharat 2047: Role of Elected Representatives,” Tawadkar said, adding that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Deputy Speaker Joshua De Souza will also address the House.
As per the itinerary, Birla will also visit Shree Balram Residential School in Canacona during his visit, participate in a book release function, and hand over keys of houses built under Shree Balram Charitable Trust to the beneficiaries.
