The South Goa district administration has lifted the blanket ban on the transportation and entry of live poultry birds and eggs from the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
While rescinding the ban order issued on January 12, South Goa Additional Collector, Surendra Naik, however, has prohibited the entry of live poultry birds and eggs within a radius of 10-km of infected zone, ie from Mumbai, Thane, Parbhani, Dapoli and Beed areas of Maharashtra state into South Goa district.
The latest order rescinding the order issued dated January 12 comes following a report from the Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Panjim informing that the government has approved to lift the ban imposed on the transportation and entry of live poultry birds and eggs from Maharashtra and Karnataka with immediate effect except birds and eggs within the radius of 10 kilometers of infected zones, i.e. from Mumbai, Thane, Parbhani, Dapoli and Beed areas of Maharashtra.
