A 28-year-old biker Adarsh Prabhakar Murgod from Belagavi died in a hit-and-run accident at Sanquelim.
A four-wheeler XUV car proceeding from Sanquelim hit the bike ridden by the deceased near PWD water tank at Codal Karapur.
The 2-wheeler rider who was proceeding in the opposite direction was crushed under the right tyre of the XUV car and sustained grievous injuries and later succumbed to injuries at CHC Sanquelim.
The XUV car driver fled from the scene of the accident.
Following the accident, teams were formed from the Bicholim police station to trace the absconding driver. After investigation and thoroughly checking CCTV footage, driver Sameer Patil, a resident of Belagavi was arrested.
Investigation was carried out by PSI Rashmir Matonkar under supervision of PI Bicholim PS Dinesh Gadekar and SDPO Bicholim Jivba Dalvi and overall supervision of Akshat Khaushal IPS, SP North.
