Nine of the 216 structures, which were found to have violated Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) rules, have been demolished at Arambol beach on Tuesday and Wednesday.
While four structures were demolished on Tuesday, five structures were razed on Wednesday.
The demolitions have been undertaken on directives from the high court, after the GCZMA had informed the high court that 216 illegal structures had been identified at Girkarwada-Arambol and that, show-cause notices were issued.
After receiving instructions, work to demolish the illegal structures was initiated by the Pernem Mamlatdar and the Pernem Block Development Office.
When contacted, Arambol Deputy Sarpanch Sonali Majji said the demolition of illegal structures had started on Tuesday, as per orders of the high court.
"Nine structures have been demolished at Girkarwada so far," said Majji.
Locals have, however, claimed that a number of structures belonging to non-Goans have sprung up along the Keri-Arambol-Mandrem coast, but authorities are yet to take action against these structures.
