Expressing satisfaction over the swift progress of the ongoing elevated corridor project, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stated that the work is proceeding at an unprecedented pace and is likely to be completed ahead of schedule.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed Sangolda bypass road, Sawant described it as another milestone that will help ease traffic congestion on NH-66.
“The development of this bypass road is a significant achievement that will decongest NH-66, facilitating smoother traffic movement and improving overall connectivity for commuters,” he said.
He acknowledged the difficulties residents and motorists have faced due to the construction work but assured that the long-term benefits will outweigh the temporary inconvenience.
“There are bound to be some difficulties when developmental works are undertaken, but once completed, people will benefit immensely from these projects,” Sawant remarked.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the new bypass road will serve as a vital alternative route for commuters, reducing traffic burden on the existing highway and enabling authorities to expedite work on the elevated corridor.
The Sangolda bypass road has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 9.85 crore.
The 1.2 km-long, 15-metre-wide road stretches from Damian de Goa to Sapna Habitat, connecting to Chogm Road.
With this new infrastructure in place, authorities anticipate significant relief from traffic congestion, ensuring smoother and more efficient vehicular movement in the region.
On the occasion, the chief minister along with Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte also laid the foundation stone for construction of 1000 Cubic Metre pump with pumping arrangements at JMJ pumping station, Porvorim.
