The Cortalim Panchayat has started the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and bio-digester operations in the village and Cortalim Sarpanch Senia Pereira has now appealed to people to hand over segregated garbage to help the panchayat tackle the garbage menace.
"We had earlier inaugurated our MRF facility and now, our Bio-Digester plants are also functional. While the biodigester treats wet waste and disposes it scientifically, the MRF facility will help us handle dry waste.”
“Our garbage disposal system is now in place and this will help tackle 90 percent of the garbage related issues. We have started door-to-door collection and we are getting good support from people.”
“We appeal to people to hand over garbage in a segregated manner as it will make it easier for us to tackle the garbage menace in Cortalim village. People can segregate garbage at source, place wet and dry garbage in two different baskets and hand them over to the garbage collector,” Pereira added.
