Delegates begin to arrive for G20 meet

The first set of delegates have begun arriving in Goa for the first of several G20 meetings which is slated to begin from Monday in the capital city. On Saturday delegates from USA and Switzerland arrived at Dabolim Airport.

The first G20 meet in Goa will be of the 'Health Working Group'.

Those who arrived on Saturday include Francoise Vanni, Stephen Murphy, Dylan Pulver, Stephanie Seydoux, Alain Labrique, Derrick Muneene and Garrett Mehl from Switzerland. 

There were two delegates from USA too who touched down on Saturday -- Elise Anthony and Steven Posnack.

The delegates on arrival were welcomed with a musical performance and taken to a reserved lounge by the security and liaison people, before being taken by special EV coaches to the Grand Hyatt at Bambolim.

More delegates are slated to arrive on Sunday and Monday either at Dabolim or the new Manohar International Airport at Mopa.

On the agenda of the G20 meet are health policies and initiatives, deliberations which could shape health policies across the globe in post-pandemic scenario.

G20 is a international forum comprising 19 economically stronger countries and the European Union aimed at resolving global financial and trade stability issues besides climate and other geo-political challenges.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of South Africa, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the European Union (EU) form the G20 group. 

The presidentship of the group which is by rotation is this year with India.
