At a time when two history sheeters have been directed to surrender before the police for violating the externment order, another history-sheeter externed from North Goa was on Thursday arrested for not only violating the order but also committing another criminal offence.
Sagar Shirodkar, having 18 FIRs against him at different police stations and currently under externment restrictions, violated the terms by returning to Thivim.
Colvale police said that despite being banned from the district through the District Magistrate’s order dated September 25, 2023, Shirodkar threatened and assaulted 53-year-old Uday Chodankar in Thivim on March 12 “ still in his externment period.
“The accused assaulted the victim and threatened him with dire consequences. An FIR under relevant sections, 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) of IPC, was registered against the accused. On Thursday, when he attempted to repeat the offence, the Colvale police intercepted and arrested him,” Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Akshat Kaushal said.
Just a day ago, the Bombay High Court at Goa had cancelled the bail granted to history sheeters Tarzan Parsekar and Sagar Patil on grounds of having violated the conditions of bail and coming to North Goa and assaulting a man and his minor son. Both are directed to surrender before the Anjuna police by March 17.
