The three-day Vasco Music and Food festival is underway in the port town.Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar inaugurated the event in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, former minster Milind Naik, Vasco BJP Mandal President Deepak Naik, Municipal Councillors and others.
"In the past, Vascokars had to move to other locations like Panaji or Margao for such mega scale festivals. It is great that such festivals are now being organised in Vasco as well."
Nikhil Shetty of Black and Orange said the group had plans to organise this festival three years ago but it never materialised.
“Local music talent, DJ Nite and a battle of bands are being presented at the festival. We also have lottery tickets of Rs 100 and draw will be held live on the stage everyday. This is our first event and we want to make this an annual function so that we can have this every year bigger and better every passing year," said Shetty.
MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said the festival had many stalls showcasing local food and drinks.
"The MMC will support such events that bring in so many people together," said Rodrigues.
