Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday that the government's decision to implement the provision of the pension rules which stipulates premature retirement of errant and inefficient employees will be done as per the process recommended.
A day after the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) held an emergency meeting and demanded following due process in implementing the rule, Sawant said it will be done.
On Sunday, the GGEA said while it supports the government decision to implement the fundamental rule 56 (J) (I) and 56 (J), whenever the government takes action against any employee through the HOD the latter must ensure 'correct review' and "sincere employees" should not suffer due to wrong placement of facts.
The GGEA also quoted rules to say that any employee against whom such premature retirement is being contemplated should also be issued a three-month notice.
Sawant said, the government will take GGEA into confidence and will continue to do so in matters pertaining to premature retirement of non performing employees.
Initially, the State government through the General Administration Department (GAD) had issued an order asking HODs to compulsorily retire employees who are lethargic and not performing, only in the State Secretariat.
Sawant later stepped in to say that the order will be made applicable to government employees in all departments across the State.
“Whatever we do, we will do it after taking employee associations into confidence,” Sawant added.
