The Goa police deployed a strong posse of policemen at the site where a statue of Shivaji Maharaj was installed on Monday morning at Sao Jose de Areal.
Questions, however, remain unanswered for how long will the men-in-uniform guard the statue located in an isolated place. This question assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the warning issued by Bajrang Dal leader Viraj Desai that Shiv premis will not remain quiet if even an attempt is made to put a scratch on the statue by vandals.
While the Goa police has deployed personnel at the site to guard the statue, it’s unclear for how long the authorities will deploy force at the site, more so after the tension on Monday.
