Yet another regional party has thrown its hat into the State’s political arena. Goencho Avaaz on Sunday announced that it would contest the ensuing elections as a political party.
Speaking to media, Captain Viriato Fernandes said, "when the Opposition is ineffective in the State Goencho Avaaz which is a Goan voice has decided to take up the challenge".
Captain Viriato said Goencho Avaaz had been raising its voice against many issues since 2018. Projects like the Nauxim Marina, double-tracking, expansion of electricity line in wild life sanctuary will be opposed, he said.
Stating that crony capitalists are controlling the government and government is helping them, Captain Viriato said that the party will continue to raise its voice against the issues that are detrimental for the State.
Party President Swapnesh Sherlekar said Goencho Avaaz has taken the political plunge as the voice of the Goans is not being heard in the Assembly.
"We have already approached the Election Commission and hope to soon get its recognition", Sherlekar said.
He said the party has been formed to fill the vacuum that has been created in the political scenario adding that Goencho Avaaz will try to bring justice to the Goan public at large.
