Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the State government decided to not impose new taxes on the businesses during the last Budget, a move highlighting the government’s extensive support to business establishments.
“The Goa government is extending all the necessary support to businesses to thrive and hence has not increased any taxes in the last budget. This pro-business decision has ensured that Goa continues to witness a consistent rise in tax revenues,” the CM said at an event led by the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industries in Panaji.
He further lauded that the GST has brought the country under One Indirect Tax regime, making the entire country a unified market. “GST has increased the pace of formalization of the economy and has incorporated ease of doing business beneficial for all companies and enterprises,” Sawant added.
Meanwhile, the CM also chaired a meeting on Monday with Secretaries and Heads of Departments and discussed and reviewed the progress of recently announced budgetary initiatives.
The CM announced the development of a monitoring mechanism inspired by the GatiShakti portal, stating that this new system will provide comprehensive oversight of projects undertaken by Government departments and SPVs.
The CM also expressed certainty that the enhanced transparency will ensure a time-bound delivery of our commitments, further strengthening Goa's development trajectory.
