Following the extension of the curfew by the government to curb the rising number of Covid cases in the State, Goa University also extended the period of suspension of online classes till May 31.
Goa University had earlier suspended all online classes for programmes offered at the campus and also at its affiliated colleges from May 11 to May 24.
"The University has decided to further suspend the conduct of online classes for programmes offered on the University campus and its affiliated colleges up to May 31", says an order issued by the Registrar Radhika Nayak.
Akin to the earlier order, the period of suspension of classes is to be considered as vacation for students and teaching staff while non-teaching staff have to continue working from home.
"The period from May 25 to 31 shall also be considered as vacation for the staff and students who are eligible for vacation. The non-teaching staff shall continue to work from home as per the directives of their respective directorate/institutions till further orders", says the order.
The order further states that faculties will have to work on subsequent Saturdays in lieu of the additional days availed as vacation. The non-teaching staff shall, however, not be required to attend duty on Saturdays.
This order is not applicable to affiliated colleges offering professional programmes governed by statutory councils/bodies.
"Affiliated colleges offering programmes governed by statutory councils/bodies shall however continue to follow the guidelines/advisories of their respective council, if issued in this regard", says the order.
