MARGAO: The disaster management cell has finally removed the old and dangerous tree lying on the main road inside the government quarters at Pajifond on Tuesday.
A section of the tree had collapsed during the last monsoon, causing damage to several vehicles.
Since then, the tree had remained standing on the road, with no action taken by the authorities to remove it.
The Goan recently highlighted the dangerous state of the tree and the lack of action by the disaster management cell to remove it.
Just a day ago, the tree showed signs of cracking, prompting Margao Municipal ward Councillor Raju Naik to report the matter to the authorities and request the tree’s removal.
The Councillor expressed gratitude to the authorities for responding to his request to remove the tree, noting that it had posed a danger since the last monsoon season.
