PANAJI: A joint scuba diving expedition by the Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard concluded in Goa today, demonstrating inter-service collaboration and a shared focus on marine conservation. Air Vice Marshal Manish Khullar, ACAS (Org & Cer), led the ceremonial flag-in marking the end of the week-long venture, titled Forging Bonds Beneath the Waves.
Flagged off on October 8 by DIG Manoj Bhatia, Commander of Coast Guard Goa Area, the expedition involved 20 divers, 10 from each force, aboard ICGS Sujeet from Goa. The team conducted dives at Angria Bank, an ecologically rich underwater plateau and sunken coral atoll around 70 nautical miles west of Vijaydurg, Maharashtra, a site named after Maratha naval commander Kanhoji Angre.
The expedition provided an opportunity to refine joint diving protocols, enhance operational interoperability, and strengthen mutual understanding among personnel. A symbolic underwater flag-in reaffirmed both forces’ commitment to marine conservation and inter-service cooperation.
