In a shocking incident, a minor girl of 16 years has been repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted by her step father since 2020 and also molested by her uncle (the step father’s brother).
Upon a complaint from a school counselor, the Maina Curtorim police has swung into action and nabbed the step father as well as the uncle for rape and other provisions of the law.
The incident of rape came to light a day ago when the girl narrated to her higher secondary school counselor how her step father has been sexually abusing and assaulting her since 2020.
The counselor in turn brought the sordid incident to the notice of the school teacher, who in turn contacted children’s right activist Auda Viegas.
Sources said the mother of the victim girl had allegedly left her custody and other minor with the step father and the uncle before going abroad.
Taking advantage of the mother’s absence, the step father allegedly raped and sexually assaulted the 16 year old girl since December 2020 to January 29, 2023 afternoon at Davorlim. The step father is also alleged to have also shown to the victim pornographic stuff.
Sources further informed that the girl was sexually assaulted on the day when she was finally drew attention of the school counselor to the trauma and ordeal faced at the hands of the step father.
The Maina Curtorim has stated that the step father had forceful sexual intercourse with her without her consent, adding that on one occasion, the brother of the step father, being the uncle of the victim, had touched her inappropriately which made her uncomfortable.
The police has registered an offense of rape, besides offenses under the Goa Children’s Act and POCSO Act.
