Moira youth in police net for cultivating cannabis plants

The Crime Branch (CB) sleuths arrested a local youth for allegedly cultivating cannabis plants at his residence in Moira. 

Ravi Naik, aged 34 years, was also caught with suspected Charas from his possession.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Nidhin Valsan informed that during the raid, the sleuths recovered ‘flowering and fruiting tops’ suspected to be drugs, Ganja and Charas, worth Rs 10.50 lakh. While the suspected Cannabis weighs over 5 kg, the weight of Charas and Ganja is about 1 kg and 5.042 kg respectively, the officer said.

He has been arrested under the NDPS Act and remanded to police custody. 

The alleged drug dealer will be interrogated for the source of drugs and his clients besides other related details. 

It may be recalled that some Russian and nationals of other countries had also been arrested for cultivating cannabis plants in their houses and also on their terrace.

The approximate value of the seized plants was around Rs 2 crore.
