Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the House that pending promotions of personnel in the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) would be fast-tracked.
The issue was raised by the Leader of Opposition calling attention to the recruitment and promotions in the police force.
"According to Recruitment Rules, we have carried out promotions in the police department, except in the IRB. For the last 15 years, IRB promotions have not been done. We will fast-track these promotions in IRB,” said CM.
Sawant said a total of 2,006 IRB and Goa Police posts have been advertised and these posts will be filled transparently.
He said recruitments would be made for various posts, including police inspector, police sub-inspector, police constables, assistant sub-inspector, photographer, laboratory technician, police constable (bandman) wireless messengers, stenographer, LDC, driver and stenographer.
The Opposition Leader said only officer of the rank of an PSI should receive the complain and that, an important police station should have two police inspectors, one to manage law and order and the other for investigation.
Kamat claimed that 26 posts of DySP are vacant as only 18 of the 44 DySP posts have been filled. He also said 15 posts of police inspector are vacant, while in the IRB, 3 posts of commandant, 9 deputy commandants and 21 posts of DySPs are vacant.
