VASCO
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Tuesday condemned the assault on police personnel near Kingston Plaza and said he had given the police a free hand to investigate the case and take strict action against those involved.
Speaking to reporters, Salkar said he was unaware of the incident when it occurred but immediately instructed police authorities once he was informed.
“The incident is shameful, unfortunate and I condemn it totally. I was not aware of what actually happened on the site, but as soon as I was informed, I directed the DySP and Police Inspector to carry out an investigation and take necessary action with a free hand without sparing the culprits,” said Salkar.
Salkar said the government would not interfere in the investigation.
“No one from the government side will interfere when it comes to law and order because we are concerned about the safety of people. The police are here to protect us and no one can tolerate the fact that they are being attacked. No one will support the criminals in such cases,” said Salkar.
The MLA also dismissed Congress allegations that law and order in Vasco had collapsed.
“They always need an excuse to talk when they cannot find any other issue. I have full faith in the police and I am sure they will carry out a proper investigation and take necessary action in this case,” he added.
