Portion of road inundated at Cacora

SANGUEM
A portion of the road between Curchorem and Sanguem at Cacora got inundated after a brief rain on Friday evening, prompting angry residents to vent their ire against the PWD.

The road at Cacora was flooded as the stormwater drains by the roadside failed to accommodate the rainwater, leading to the overflowing of gutters.

The water subsequently flooded the main road and also entered into compound walls of nearby houses and shops.

The locals claimed that though the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council cleans the gutters, the problems lie with the JICA water pipeline which was laid in the stormwater drains.

“The water pipeline now occupies a major portion of the drains, leading to blockage of water during heavy flow of water,” remarked a resident.

Locals have demanded that the PWD rectify the issue and make provisions to ensure the free flow of monsoon water, or else the flooding could aggravate during heavy rains.
