Rains in Kerala raises hopes in Goa

The monsoon finally hitting Kerala on Thursday, a whole one week later than initially forecast, has raised hopes that the skies will be kinder and come pouring down here in Goa even as the prolonged summer heat continued to be a source of discomfort for children in school as also adults.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also said that the conditions were favourable for its further advancement to more parts of Kerala and also Karnataka further north.

It usually hits Goa within a maximum of a week's time from its arrival in Kerala and if conditions are favourable in about 3-4 days.

Meanwhile the mercury continued to soar northwards with the maximum temperature recorded in the capital city topping the 35.8 degrees celsius mark.
