PANAJI
Days after roads in Panaji were resurfaced after 'Smart City' work was completed, several sections have again begun to be closed for contractors to work on levelling the cross-drains and manhole bumps.
Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) managing director and CEO, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, said with the laying of fresh hot-mix carpet on the roads, the level has gone higher than the cross-drains metal mesh and the manhole lids.
"We are now working on levelling these to reduce the bumps vehicles will face at these spots," Rodrigues said.
Such work where cross-drains are being dug up and the metal meshes removed to raise the level and match it with the level of the re-surfaced roads is being carried out at several junctions along the MG Road leaving stretches of it unmotorable.
