Hailing the court verdict on the Babri Masjid demolition, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday evening also issued a fresh appeal to Shel-Melauli locals not to oppose the IIT project.
A special CBI court had acquitted all 32 accused, including BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, in the Babri Masjid demolition case, in the absence of conclusive proof to suggest a criminal conspiracy.
"As far as the court verdict is concerned, the people have been finally acquitted in the case and this verdict is the victory of truth. Truth always wins,” said Sawant, while speaking to reporters at Dabolim airport.
Commenting on ongoing protests against the IIT project at Shel-Melauli, Sawant said he had offered all possible options to the people on the issue.
“I don't think any other chief minister could have given any better options to the people. The IIT is a prestigious project for the State which will boost its pride and hence, the people of the area must support the project and this project should come in the State," said Sawant.
