The Indian Navy ‘Swarnim Vijay Abhiyan’ motorcycle expedition, undertaken as part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, culminated at National War Memorial, New Delhi on October 3.
A distance of over 6,000 kms was covered by the bikers through Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajastan, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh during the trip. The expedition with 11 motorbikes and two support vehicles had commenced at Karwar on September 6 and over 50 naval personnel participated in its multiple legs.
On culmination of the expedition at New Delhi, the riders were felicitated at National War Memorial by Rear Admiral Vikram Menon, ACNS (Air), Naval Headquarters, Delhi in a ceremony.
As part of the activity, the riders were able to visit various establishments of Indian Armed Forces, including launch pads of 1971 campaign on the western front and interact with a wide variety of personnel.
Enroute, they paid homage to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru at National Martyrs Memorial (Hussainiwala), visited the Statue of Unity at Kevadia and INS Khukhri Memorial at Diu.
They also interacted with a large number of cadets at the National Defence Academy, Sainik Schools at Satara, Balachadi, Kapurthala and Kunjpura, and the Rashtriya Military School at Chail.
