On Thursday evening, a spat between a local caretaker of a building complex and the two accused led to the arrest of one of the accused in Calangute.
The two accused were found on the terrace of the complex and when questioned about their antecedents attacked the caretaker with the butt of the country-made pistol.
The caretaker immediately raised an alarm and alerted local residents who managed to nab one of the accused while his associate escaped.
The locals thrashed the accused and later handed him over to police.
