Sporting Clube de Goa scored a thrilling 4-2 win over Sirvodem Sports Club in the GFA State Futsal League Championship, at Chowgule Futsal Arena on Friday.
The Flaming Oranje twice came from behind before netting twice to record their second win in the competition and earn qualification to the knockouts. Rohan Rodrigues gave Sirvodem early lead but Brandon Gomes made his presence count in the squad, scoring the equaliser before returning to the bench injured. The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
Crossing over, Chadel Fernandes made it 2-1 with a sublime finish to put Sirvodem ahead again. However, Sporting Clube levelled the terms through Clive. Sporting Clube survived the opposition attempts thanks to brilliant goalkeeping from Ozen Silva.
In the later stages, Sporting Clube scored a brilliant team goal where Marcus Mascarenhas set up Llyod to put them ahead in the game for the first time. Llyod Cardozo then put the game to bed with a fine shot past the rival keeper, 4-2.
FC YFA cruise
In the other match of the day, FC YFA beat Youth Club of Manora. Arnold Fernandes scored a treble while Pushkar Prabhu netted a brace. Asten Fernandes and Filbert Pereira were the other goal getters.
YFA were a transformed team with Hilton Fernandes and Filbert making excellent play. YC Manora scored through a Nicholas Fernandes own goal while Godrey Fernandes and Hilton Fernandes’ own goal added to their tally.
