Track-doubling work stopped at Areal

MARGAO
Sao Jose de Areal panchayat members stopped track-doubling work in the village on Sunday saying the railways cannot resume work when local MLA and Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues has assured to stop the ongoing works till the Union Ministers come to Goa and offer a solution.

Outgoing Areal Sarpanch Vincy Mascarenhas informed that seven members of the panchayat led by Sarpanch Miguel descended on Galli area of the village near the railway station after they were informed that the railways had resumed work of track-doubling. “We told them to stop the work since our Minster Filipe Neri Rodrigues had stopped work on the project till the Union Ministers came to Goa to discuss the issues. The railways later stopped the work,” he said. He pointed out that though the railways were using heavy machinery to join the tracks, they assured the delegation that they will stop the work.
