Two women die in separate drowning incidents in North Goa

MAPUSA
Two women drowned in separate incidents in the rivers at Tivim and Moira, prompting the Colvale and Mapusa police to register the cases as unnatural deaths. The bodies have been sent to Goa Medical College for post-mortem examinations.

In Tivim, the body of 70-year-old Bibijan Udikeri from Madel was recovered from the river after being reported missing for two days. Locals, with help from the fire brigade, found her after spotting her slippers near the riverbank. 

She was reportedly depressed following the recent death of her grandson. The Colvale police conducted an inquest panchnama.

At Moira, 60-year-old Lata Jaywant Mavlankar of Vayanginwada, Nachinola, died during treatment after jumping from the Moira bridge over the Mapusa river. Fishermen rescued her and rushed her to Mapusa District Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. 

The Mapusa police conducted an inquest panchnama.
