Explosives meant for hunting wild animals

Valpoi police have booked one person on charges of storing crude bombs meant to be used for hunting wild animals.
According to Bicholim SDPO Jivba Dalvi, police received information that one person had stored explosive material for the purpose of hunting wild animals.
Accordingly, a police team led by PI Videsh Shirodkar obtained a house search warrant and conducted search of a rented room at Hathwada-Valpoi along with a forensic laboratory staff and Bomb Disposal Squad.
Police conducted a search in the house where rooms which are given on rented basis to tenants.
Zakir Hussain was found to be staying in the third room and during a search, police found 5 suspected crude explosive bombs, 4 metal mini swords and one stainless steel chopper in his room.
Hussain was asked about the items in the house and he reportedly disclosed that the bombs are used for hunting of wild animals.
The accused Zakir Hussain, presently residing at Hathwada-Valpoi but hailing from Chimbel, was placed under arrest under Sections 288 of BNS, Section 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act and Section 9 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of PI Valpoi Videsh Shirodkar and SDPO Bicholim Jivba Dalvi and guidance of SP North Akshay Kaushal, IPS.
