Janardhan Khorate, also known as John, who claims to be the legal representative of Michael Peters, the original owner of the disputed Anjuna house, has denied allegations made by the Sinary family regarding their alleged forcible eviction.
Addressing the media in Mapusa on Monday, Khorate dismissed the accusations as "false and baseless," asserting that the house rightfully belongs to Michael Peters.
He stated that he has been granted power of attorney for the property and challenged the Sinary family to produce documents proving ownership through a sale deed.
“We are law-abiding citizens and possess all legal documents. The allegations that we evicted the family using goons are completely untrue. We have no knowledge of how they obtained keys to the house or who authorised their entry,” Khorate said.
He further revealed that a police complaint has been filed regarding the matter and expressed confidence that law enforcement will handle the case professionally.
“There was no agreement signed between the Sinary family and the original owner,” Khorate asserted, reinforcing his claim that the house remains under the ownership of Michael Peters.
