The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has informed that the On-Job-training (OJT) will be conducted for Class XI vocational students in April itself, even as the new academic year is set to commence from April 1.
Every year, the OJT for class XI vocational is held in April, wherein the students are placed in commercial establishments, with the consent of their parents, for a short period of time so they get an opportunity to witness the actual production line and the workflow.
However, with the new academic year set to commence from April 1 onwards, the Heads of the department raised serious concern with regards to OJT before the Board.
“The matter was extensively discussed in the appropriate committees and the Board of Studies for vocational courses. It has been decided that OJT in April will continue, as it is an integral part of the academic curriculum and activities,” the Board said in a circular issued directing the schools to make necessary arrangements for the smooth implementation of the same.
The OJT scheme has been implemented by the Board since 2021.
