PANAJI: Goa is setting an ambitious target to source 50 per cent of its electricity requirements from renewable energy by 2030, aiming to serve as a model State. The coastal State, who imports around 80 per cent of power to meet its requirement, is exploring various options to harness green energy.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told media persons on Monday that during the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the focus was laid on green energy generation. “Accordingly, the state has set a target to generate 50 per cent of its total power requirement from renewable sources by 2030,” he said.
