Says it will create more employment opportunities
CANACONA
Welcoming the formation of Kushavati district as the third district of the State, BJP State General Secretary Sarvanand Bhagat said a smaller administrative area will allow district officials to manage public services more effectively, resulting in faster decision-making and better governance.
“It’s a win-win situation for people in the four talukas, particularly for Canacona taluka. The district headquarters of various government departments will be set up in the new district to avail services such as employment registration, land records, civil matters, police, education, RDA etc,” said Bhagat.
“Services related to land records, tenancy, mutation, survey, and revenue courts will be delivered more efficiently due to reduced caseload and closer administrative oversight. Citizens will not have to travel long distances to district headquarters for services such as certificates, revenue matters, land records, and grievance redressal.”
According to Bhagat, the establishment of the new district headquarters and associated offices will create employment opportunities directly and indirectly.
“Creation of a new district will enable development of essential infrastructure such as roads and connectivity, district hospital, educational institutes, sports complex etc. Moreover, the rural residents often encounter various barriers in availing healthcare services, and have to travel to the District Hospital, Margao to avail requisite medical services. Hence, creation of district hospital in the new district will provide better medical treatment facilities closer to people in the four talukas.”
“There will be a boost to hinterland tourism, eco-tourism and adventure tourism in the newly created district. More demand will be created for tour guides, homestay operators, drivers, local artisans, and vendors while sales for local shops, eateries, handicrafts, and agricultural/ horticulture products will be increased due to increased tourist visits,” he added.
