The state government has unveiled plans to set up a state-of-the-art Innovation and Research Park at Verna Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), with Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho confirming that land will be auctioned exclusively to technology-based companies engaged in research and development.

Speaking at Verna, Godinho said the project is aimed at making Goa a hub for innovation, modern technology, and employment generation. “We have a double-engine government, and when there is good collaboration between the Centre and the state, we are bound to get good results. Across the state, new infrastructure is being taken up in various industrial estates, but the most development is happening at Verna IDC,” he said.

The minister pointed out that the government has already auctioned large parcels of land through the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) to deserving industries that bring value to Goa’s economy. “We have balanced out most of the land in this vicinity and ensured it goes to industries that will not just set up shop but also create employment for Goans. However, there is still a considerable portion of land available in Verna IDC. This land will now be used in a modern and futuristic way, aligned with the digital age,” he explained.

"The upcoming facility will be called the Hello World Innovation and Research Park. The idea is to create a specialised zone where companies involved in cutting-edge technology, research, and development can flourish. This special plan will usher in change and attract major industries to Goa. Verna IDC will have something unique — an innovation and research park that no other industrial estate in the country currently possesses,” he asserted.

Godinho emphasised that the move reflects the government’s forward-looking approach to industrial development. “We are not only strengthening infrastructure but also ensuring that our policies attract industries that focus on innovation and long-term value creation. This will help Goa build a stronger economic base while providing quality employment opportunities for our youth,” he said.
