90 EVMs checked at Old South Goa Collectorate

Around 90 Electronic Voting machines (EVMs) underwent checks by engineers of the Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) at the Old South Goa Collectorate as the authorities kick started the process of First Level Checking of EVMs on Monday.

Around 10 engineers drafted by BEL conducted checking of the EVMs at the Old Collectorate in the presence of representatives of the BJP and Congress parties.

At the end of day one of the exercise, around 90 EVMs are believed to have been checked by the engineers. The entire exercise of checking the EVMs is expected to be completed by August 31.

The Election Commission of India had late last month dispatched to the South Goa district Electoral office around 1,095 Ballot Units (BUs), 1,100 Control Units (CUs), and 200 VVPATS.
