Mandrem Police have arrested a man and his son on charges of assaulting an advocate in Morjim in connection with a court-ordered demolition of a structure.
The advocate, Ankur Kumar (32), a native of Jharkhand but residing in Alto-Betim, was injured and his car was damaged in the incident, and an FIR has been registered against 10 persons.
According to police reports, Kumar filed a complaint stating that on Friday at about 11.45 am, when Dhruva Morje (30), Dileep Morje (55) and 10 others formed an unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapons, and restrained him and his client, Anil Naik, by blocking his car at Temwada, Morjim.
The accused are alleged to have damaged Kumar’s car by pelting stones and damaging the car with an iron rod.
Kumar and Naik were then allegedly taken out from their car and assaulted by the accused, causing them injuries. They were also allegedly threatened with dire consequences if any complaint was filed against the accused.
Acting on the complaint, Mandrem police arrested Dhruva Morje and Dileep Morje in this connection and further investigation is in progress.
