CANACONA
A 62-year-old British national has been arrested by Canacona police on charges of possessing drugs worth Rs 2.35 lakh.
According to reports, a Canacona police team led by PSI Ramdas Doifode conducted a raid at Kindlebag-Canacona between 11.30 pm on Friday and 3.15 am on Saturday.
Police caught the accused, Lee Tarry Bowers, and recovered from his possession flowering or fruiting tops of the cannabis plant suspected to be ganja weighing about 10.7 gms.
Bowers was also found in possession of a narcotic substance suspected to be cocaine weighing 4.5 gms.
Both the narcotics are valued at an approximate Rs 2.35 lakh, police said. Police arrested the British national under the NDPS Act and has notified the British Embassy through the FRRO Panaji.
