Servicos de Radio Mundial, Margao, one of Goa's oldest electronics establishments was honoured with the prestigious, loyal trade partner award by Onida Electronics Ltd. The award which recognizes the outlet's longstanding association and contribution to the company was presented by Onida Electronics Ltd., CEO Gunjan Shrivastav.

The journey of Radio Mundial dates back to the 1950s, when it was founded by Prabhakar Vernekar. After completing a course in radio engineering, Vernekar worked as a radio officer on board a ship. He later worked with Philips in Holland and Grundig in Germany before sailing home in the 1950s. His brother, Premanand Vernekar later joined him in carrying the business forward.  What began as a store specialising in radios and sound equipment in Margao, gradually grew into a recognised electronics business across Goa. After establishing its presence in the commercial capital of the state, Radio Mundial expanded to Panaji and subsequently opened a showroom in Vasco, strengthening its presence across three of Goa's important commercial centres.

Over the decades with technology transforming the consumer electronics industry, the outlet expanded its sales range from valve radios and record players to black-and-white televisions, VCRs,. home theatres and today smart TVs, air conditioners, washing machines and modem home appliances.

"Through every generation of technology, Radio Mundial has continued to evolve while preserving the values on which it was founded: quality, trust, personal attention and dependable service," says Siddharth Vernekar, the third generation of the family to run the business.
