A person from Odisha but residing at Candolim has been booked on charges of attempting to deposit 13 fake notes in denominations of Rs 500 in a Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) of a private bank branch at Candolim.
While the incident took place on August 19, the bank’s branch manager Manish Rege filed a complaint with Calangute police on Tuesday after bank employees found 13 fake Rs 500 notes in the bank's CDM.
On examining the CCTV footage, it was found that Shibapati Patra had deposited the notes. Acting on a police complaint, Calangute police registered a case against Patra and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Yogesh Mandrekar.
