A youth from West Bengal has been arrested on charges of burgling cash of Rs 2.8 lakh from a Hyderabad tourist at a resort in Nerul.
According to police, the burglary took place on Tuesday midnight, when the complainant, Vijay Prakash of Hyderabad, and his colleagues were staying at a resort in Nerul.
Prakash and his colleagues had gone out between 8 pm on Tuesday and 12.30 am on Wednesday, when a person entered the villa through the back door and fled with a bag containing cash of Rs 2.8 lakh.
When the cash was reported missing, a police complaint was filed with the Saligao police.
Using CCTV footage, police arrested Akash Binaya Mahto (22) on Thursday evening and recovered cash of Rs 2 lakh from him. Saligao police are investigating the case under the supervision of Police Inspector Milind Bhuinbar.
